July 12 - Public Notice

PUBLIC NOTICE OF MONITORING REQUIREMENTS NOT MET FOR THE CITY OF LACYGNE DRINKING WATER

We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards.

During the month of May 2019, we missed sending in a test sample on time due to a cracked testing container for the disinfection by-products of Total Carbon, as required by Kansas Administrative Regulations.  Even though this is NOT AN EMERGENCY, as our customers you have a right to know that we missed this sample and what we are doing to correct this situation.

What should I do?

You DO NOT need to use an alternative (e.g., bottled) water supply. However, if you have specific health concerns, consult your doctor.

What does this mean?

This is NOT an immediate risk. If it had been, you would have been notified immediately. However, some people who drink water containing Carbon Total in excess of the MCL over many years may experience problems with their liver, kidneys, or central nervous systems, and may have an increased risk of getting cancer.

What Happened? What is being done?
The bottle for sampling was cracked and a new set was requested. The test was performed on June 3, 2019. The results from the June 3, 2019 test were in standard MCL range.
