La Cygne's City Parks
There are three parks located throughout the city for the young and young at heart. The La Cygne Community Park is the main park and is located in the southwest corner of town. Turn south on 1st street and you will drive into the complex. The complex offers swimming, lighted tennis courts, a campground with hook ups, soccer and baseball fields, playground areas, picnic facilities, a shelter house, asphalt streets for walking, and free Wi-Fi. The shelter houses do not have air conditioning but they do have access to electricity.
The Community Park plays host to youth soccer in the fall and spring plus summer ball activities on its lighted softball/baseball field. A park board comprised of five members oversees the operation and maintenance of the park.
Bittiker Park, a smaller park located on North Broadway, provides enjoyment for families by providing play equipment, basketball goals, picnic tables and a small shelter. Bittiker Park is operated and maintained by the governing body of the city.
Visit the hand-painted quilt at the city's third green space: Thayer Park. This park is located at the corner of Broadway and Market streets, and provides benches, a shelter and a grassy area for play or relaxation.
The La Cygne Community Park Board is constantly making plans for additional play equipment and improvements to the city's parks and pool. To view the current Park Board members, click here.
