PUBLIC NOTICE TO ROOFING CONTRACTORS AND COMPANIES WORKING IN LA CYGNE
In order to provide roofing services to the citizens of La Cygne, KS, contractors and companies will need to complete the Roofing Contractor Application. Return this application with a valid copy of the Certificate of Insurance (commercial general liability, umbrella and workers compensation) via email at lccityhall@peoplestelecom.net or in person at 206 N Commercial Street.
Each contractor and company is required to be registered with the Kansas Roofing Registry. Those who are not registered need to contact the Attorney General's office at 800-432-2310.
The City of La Cygne follows the Uniform Building Codes Standards, and does not have code requirements for ice/water or ice/snow shields.
If the work on the roof is simply replacing the materials that were damaged or lost, a building permit is not needed. If the work on the roof is changing the footprint, slope or specifications of the original roof then a building permit needs to be submitted, reviewed and approved by the city's codes officer, and paid for at city hall.
As of the time of this publication, May 7, 2020, the front door of city hall is locked to the public due to COVID-19. However, those who are submitting paperwork in person may knock on the door and one of the city hall staff with come to assist.
